The Meaning of Christmas

Jesus - Birth

As all the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season comes to an end, it’s time for us to  sit back and reflect upon the true meaning of Christmas. For a moment, think about the humble beginning of the birth our Savior Jesus Christ.    We know the song “Away in a Manger” and we certainly can sing “O Holy Night”.   But rather than simply reciting those words, we should truly dig into our hearts and remember that Christ was born to save our Souls.

This time of year we give gifts and exchange pleasantries.  We try to be kind and nice and generous.  We feel warmth towards others and indulge in the spirit of being joyful.   But Christmas comes and Christmas goes.  And all too often, we forget about all the goodness in our lives.

I think Norman Wesley Brooks said it best in:

Let Every Day Be Christmas

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself.

Peace on Earth, good will to men,
kind thoughts and words of cheer,
are things we should use often
and not just once a year.

Remember too the Christ-child, grew up to be a man;
to hide him in a cradle, is not our dear Lord’s plan.
So keep the Christmas spirit, share it with others far and near,
from week to week and month to month, throughout the entire year!

Merry Christmas today and throughout the year!

Tiffany, Walter, and the entire James Family
