WOW… This is pretty extraordinary. As I was looking at my past blogs, I came across this one written by me in April, 2011 about Donald Trump. While I have not definitively decided who will get my vote, I must say that after reading this Mr. Trump has been very clear on his positions. I have not made any alterations to what I wrote 5 years ago. I think this is very interesting.
Donald Trump for President
Have you been listening to any of Donald Trump’s interviews? Look I don’t really think he would ever get elected. Having said that, I’ve gotta say, his message is pretty simple. Let’s put American back into it’s Leadership role.
In UndercoverWear, I have a saying. “He who pays controls”. For example, if UndercoverWear corporate is paying for a meeting in a specific area, then UndercoverWear pretty much dictates the guidelines. If a Divisional Leader is paying and invites a Corporate Speaker, then the Leader dictates the guidelines.
The same philosophy takes places socially. If we are invited to dinner, our hosts decide the restaurant, the wine etc. Even if our hosts asks us to choose the wine, we always choose a moderately priced wine because ……… we’re not paying.
If the host prefers white wine, we acquiesce. Why? He who pays controls.
In the United States, we seem to have abandoned that philosophy. We are paying so much and controlling so little.
Trump said 3 things that really made me listen.
1. The United States is paying to build China and the OPEC countries. While they grow, our debt increases.
2. While all Muslims are NOT bad people, the fact of the matter is many Muslims hate the United States.
3. We should take care of our citizens first –not other countries.
While many have said that Mr. Trump sounds like a “bully’, it’s pretty clear to me that being Mr. Rodgers in a world full or Rambo’s doesn’t work. What really frosts my cookies is when so many Hollywood movie actors denounce our country. Has it occurred to them that:
A. This is where they made their money.
B. If they don’t like it here –move!!!!!
WJJ and I have traveled literally around the world. Some of my favorite destinations are:
1. Italy
2. Egypt
3. Istanbul
4. Vienna
5. Monte Carlo
6. New Zealand
Having said that, I wouldn’t want to live in any other Country. The degree of every day luxuries we have here in the United States as compared to other places is remarkable. The extent of our Freedom is extraordinary. We protect criminals, aliens, foreigners and of course the rights of every American citizen.
As I said earlier, I don’t know if Donald Trump has a shot in Hell of becoming President. Despite the fact that he is enormously successful in business and I believe can turn this Country around economically, I’m not sure I would vote for him. Jury is still out.
But, I will say, it was truly refreshing for me to hear someone say, Hey world –get a clue –we protect you –we help you financially –and we deserve and expect some —
RESPECT!!!
So that’s my political statement of the day. What say you?
Tj
Well said Tiffany! Donald Trump says what a lot of USA citizens think and of course a “real politician” will only say the things that people want to hear to get elected. I am a libertarian which believe in very small government….we area all big boys and girls and we can make our own decisions and do not need the government to tell us how to run our life! Example: When New York wanted to control how much soda people can drink by controlling the size that can be sold. No one has the right to tell us what to think and do! Liberty is what people need in this country!
I hope you don’t mind if I respectfully disagree with some points (Though, I totally agree with #3).
I don’t believe we are paying to build China and the Middle East. The construction there is for the benefit of American business interests. In the Middle East taxpayers are paying for infrastructure and bases to protect the oil industry.
I don’t believe that the conflict we are involved in the the Middle East is about religion and it scares me to see a particular faith demonized in America. We are better than that.
And, finally, I believe that it is our responsibility in a democracy to stay engaged and speak our mind. So many people say that they like that about Trump and Sanders. Rather than moving to another country, we need to stay and try to make this one the best it can be.
You did ask, “What say you?” So I hope you don’t mind that I took you up on your offer.
I believe your comments are spot on and thank you for sharing
