Did your Mother ever say, “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are?” That was one of my Mother’s favorite sayings.
I have been incredibly fortunate because most of my friends & I share the same likes, dislikes and most importantly values. When we think of our friendships, we talk about having fun together, trusting each other, and knowing that we have someone with whom we can share our most intimate feelings.
But, and of course this is Tiffany’s “Lifetini” so there is always a “but”. So lets get to that “but”
But, have you really thought about how your friendships can impact your goals in life? If you surround yourself with people that are unmotivated, uninspired, negative or downright lazy more than likely you will allow yourself to be dragged down to some degree. It is believed that we are the average of the 5 – 10 people with whom we associate.

Now I’ll address my Direct Sales Professionals.
Regardless of what company you are affiliated, IF you want to be “at the top” –create a team that reflects YOU and YOUR work ethic, your goals, your dreams and your values. Now that does NOT mean immediately making a decision about someone who you THINK does not fit the “mold”. Quite the contrary. You NEVER pre-judge and you NEVER simply look only for the best. We all started as “diamonds in the rough”. And then we learned to shine!
As a Leader in the industry (or in any business), you are in a position to introduce a better way of life to others and help them learn to set goals, experience more achievements and be surrounded by positivity. Remember as a Leader of a team –you (not the Company) are the person with whom your Consultants have the most interaction. So yes, you have a great responsibility and honor to help them learn to help themselves and want to live their dreams.
Isn’t that amazing that “little ole you” can have that kind of positive impact on others?
But (yes another one!) Let’s get back to you.
Do you always surround yourself with those who have similar goals, dreams aspirations and work ethic? Probably not. But are the majority of people “like you”?
I’ll bet you said “yes”. Think again. Just for an easy exercise, for the next couple of days make a list of everyone with whom you speak, text, message etc. Then add “Y” for Yes they are like me. “M” Mostly like me. “S” for Somewhat like me and “N” for Nothing like me.
TO DO: Make a list of everyone with whom you speak, text, message etc. Then add “Y” for Yes they are like me. “M” Mostly like me. “S” for Somewhat like me and “N” for Nothing like me.
How to surround yourself with Positive People
By the way, if you feel that you are often not focused, or not disciplined or not reaching your goals and you feel comfort that you have lots of “Yes’s” that your friends and business associates are just like you…..Houston, we have a problem.
Hanging out or building a business with those who have bad habits, ensures only one thing—You will not reach your goals in business or in life. It’s that simple.
Twice in my life I’ve been told that I run my life like a business. Once, the person thought they were insulting me –they didn’t. The other time, the person wanted me to write a book about it. Much more logical. Isn’t my life the most important “business” I will ever run? Isn’t my life the most important “business” I will ever run? Click To Tweet
Thanks to my Mother, I am a first believer in “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who are” and In Direct Sales: “ Show me your team and I’ll tell you what you will achieve”.
Loved it!
You are absolutely amazing, Tiffany – beautiful, intelligent, sweet – that is you in a nutshell. Love You – Joni (6052) – I can’t believe I still remember my agent number).
